Federal parliament is soon expected to adopt the first ever Murray-Darling River plan. This plan aims to provide a more equitable balance of the basin’s valuable water supply between commercial and environmental interests. Whether there is too little water, such as during extreme drought, or too much water, as experienced by recent floods in the US and UK, the management of water resources remains high on political agendas.
